C family

Hmm... some days I feel like selling my camera and taking up another hobby.  But I'll share these anyway.  I don't know if I'm being super critical or if these are good at all. A minute of your time to comment would be greatly appreciated. I'm in need of some warm fuzzies.

I have a new favorite toddler girl in my life.
This girl pulls the greatest straight face. She just got splashed by a dog here.

State Street

There's something so romantic about empty cafe chairs.

I put my camera in black and white mode first, and then shot.  I find by doing that it makes me more aware of lines and curves and contrast.  The following photos are all ISO 200, f5.6, 1/160 at 55mm.  I also pushed the exposure up 1.3+.  I like them.  Maybe because I love that I can find curvy Paris like cast iron fencing and chairs in Madison.  So perhaps I'm the only one who will like these.  Either way, it was very fun to shoot today.  I did not do any retouching.  I'm trying to steer clear of that while I learn how to take better pictures.

A Tree Grows in Maryland

I don't think you can see really well what I intended to photograph unless you look really closely. This little tree is growing out of a stump that is in the lake. It was so cool, but the trunk of the little tree is so skinny, it was hard to highlight that against the background of the green leaves. And I was taking the picture from the lake, meaning I was swimming while trying to capture the image. It was a little tricky. But it was such an awesome scene that I had to try. I wish I had captured it a little better.....

Washington Coast

Hope you don't mind me still sharing pictures. :) We enjoyed a 3 day, 2 night back packing trip along the WA coast last week. I just thought I'd share some highlights.

An endless sand box: f/7.1, SS 1/1000

Tricky maneuvering (too bad this doesn't show how steep it was on the decent): f/6.3, SS 1/320

Muscles - we later learned we weren't supposed to eat them because they cause Paralytic shellfish poisoning (PSP)!!! We saw the sign on the way out: f/5.0, SS 1/160

Before our bonfire: f/7.1, SS 1/400
